Tristan Bancks Author Visit
We all enjoyed Tristan‟s visit to Trinity. He spoke about his books and writing in general and about being an ambassador for “Room to Read.”
He shared a few rules about his work A good story is one quarter “Orientation”, half “Complication” and one quarter “Resolution”.
Use a character that wants something, another character that has opposite wants and stakes – what they each have to lose.
The value of music while writing a story to create a mood. He uses Spotify and storyscrapbook.com. The children were amazed with the variety of attributes for a crazy cat using different music.
The importance of detail in the story eg a foot that has been sweaty all day in a school shoe.
Use information from your own life and embellish and exaggerate.
“Two Wolves” took more than 5 years to write because it is quite different.
He read part of a story and then asked children to use some of the above to suggest complications.
He also encouraged children aged 10-14 to submit under 1000 words a story by August 22nd for possible inclusion in his new “My Life..” book.

Today, our school community pauses to remember and honour the courage, sacrifice and spirit of all those who have served our country. On this ANZAC Day, we reflect on the values of mateship, courage and resilience - values that continue to inspire and guide us as a community. As we pause to remember, we give thanks for the freedoms we enjoy and consider how we can show kindness, respect and care for others. Lest we forget 🌺 Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese24 Apr 2026

On Monday at the Nepean River, our Staff Formation Day provided a meaningful opportunity to reflect on our Catholic faith and its place in our daily work. Through prayer, shared conversations, and thoughtful learning, we were reminded of the values that guide us—compassion, service, and community. Grateful for this time to reconnect and grow together in faith. A very special thank you Father Peter for his guidance and support on the day. Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese
